Cycling to lose weight

I had a cycle for ages but my sons need was greater (get him to his place of work) and after a long loan, i decided he should have it on a permanent basis, OK well the issue was forced upon me as it was never going to be returned to its rightful owner.

I therefore had to find a bike that I could use, its not an easy thing to do when your knees are shot, so I looked to Halfords and found the one in the picture.

Cycle details:

Carrera Parva Men’s Hybrid Bike (From their website)

Whether you’re commuting in the week or hitting some cycle trails at the weekend, the Carrera Parva Men’s Hybrid Bike excels at both, thanks to its larger 27.5″ wheels and 21 speed Shimano Tourney gears which will see you up even the toughest of hills. Made from aluminium to keep it light and with reliable Tektro v-brakes, the Parva is the bike that likes to change things up.

  • Frame: Lightweight aluminium
  • Forks: Aluminium blades for comfort
  • Gears: 21 speed Shimano Tourney are great for both the hills and flats
  • Brakes: Tektro Alloy V-Brakes for reliable stopping power
  • Wheels: Larger 27.5″ wheels for optimum urban performance

So it is light, it has plenty of gears to allow me to do things without too much pressure on my bad knees and I will start to lose this weight I have gained since surgery.

I want to lose the weight as I am now on blood pressure tablets which can not be a good sign or thing and speaking to my excellent doctor he advised that the way to get back off them was to lose the extra pounds, so I will.

This is the seat it came with

As you can see from the lovely looking seat, it is small!! Too small for this butt lol, so I had to call my son over and replace it with the seat I purchased before, gel cushioning and wide, comfort matters.

Now I have ordered my drink bottle and holder and a new bright jacket – Lets get this weight gone!!
